They grow into WHAT?!

Well the chicken coop began as a cute birthday present for Amy. I was driving toward the school where she has been teaching culinary skills for over ten years. I was fairly new to the area where she lives and I was hemming and hawing as to where there would be a “dollar store” on these desolate country roads. Biting my finger nails thinking.. “I have to find a helium balloon between here and the school or I’m showing up with only my pretty smile…”

Then to my delight I passed this corner plot and the sign read.. “Bready Farm – two week olds chicks”. BINGO! I was in Tuckahoe NJ. At the time I had no idea it was only about five miles from her home but I thought for sure I was in the middle of Nebraska, on the way to Cape May. Didn’t Amy say in one of our talks that she wanted a chicken? Thats perfect! Its the next most responsible (and adorable) thing to bringing her a puppy! Well you know, baby chicks can keep themselves warm so you gotta buy three. Three? Ah well… they are so tiny and cute. What could be the harm?

Well thats when the book began. The books title? I think its “Pollo Loco”… I’m still writing it but one thing for sure; there will be a lot of chapters in this cute little book about a Chicken King Pin Pullet named Ethel and the many lessons to come…
